Geomancers
From SCross
Geomancy is the art of divination regarding the features of Gaia. In essence, they are like other mages who summon forth the elements. Unlike other mages, they are capable of twisting the elements and the will of Gaia. Theirs is a difficult lot in comparison to other mages throughout Gaia, their matron planet sometimes demanding their obedience in order to use the very ground they walk on as a weapon to strike at their enemies.
In the history of Geomancy, the most notable has been the Geomancer named 'Hagele'. Little is known about this man's past, but it is known that he has fostered a school dedicated entirely to his methods of geomancy. His abilities have left many geomancers in awe of what can be accomplished if one applies themselves. His Hagele's Step ability allows one to study the magical ley lines beneath their feet in order to align crystals in the perfect Feng Shui environment to do what the geomancer wishes the room to be done with. The Terrain's-Blessing ability allows a geomancer to walk over terrain and take no damages from it, such as walking through a swamp and not being poisoned. The Counter-Flood ability, once thought lost with Hagele's school, is now an open ability to all geomancers; this ability allows them to be attacked and counter-attack with the elements at a geomancer's disposal. The Shell of Gaia technique is one which a geomancer summons up the lifeblood of Gaia in order to make a shell around the geomancer. Last, but certainly not the least is the Gaia's Mercy ability. This ability allows a geomancer to summon forth mercy from Gaia, curing a wrath at the small expense of a geomancer's magical stamina.
The typical geomancer is adept in all elements: fire, ice, air, earth, water, and lightning. It is with these elements that a Geomancer can harm an opponent or heal their allies. The most notable of these components has been the recently rediscovered Elemental Correction component used for healing an ally. With these abilities, the geomancer can summon minor-elementals of the six basic elements to do their bidding. The geomancer can also infuse an element into a target, making them weaker to the element's direct opposite, as well as resist an element as well. There are also several status-effects that are related to the geomancy schools: frozen, immolate, and sub-zero.
- Current Head of Geomancy: None
- Current Geomancers: Hanare McLeod, Duster
- Past Geomancers: Lady Kildea Skye, Seelus, Ulisk
Within the Imperial Guild of Magi, there are usually very few Geomancy students as most often they are confused with being Black Magi when they are first assigned to their positions within the Guild. Those that escape being wrongly classed usually seem to know when Gaia has chosen them to be a geomancer--be this through a dream, a command, or a manifestation of abilities.
Once a student has chosen the path, it is only a matter of time before they progress through the various tiers available to a geomancer.
