Lesser Spirit

From SCross

WARNING: This can not be taken from chargen. Only espers can aspire to eventually become lesser spirits by forsaking their mortal side.

Spirit Scale: Just for visualization purposes. The normal person is 95% Physical/ 5% spirit in nature. A half-esper raises the spirit level up to 25%, a full on esper boasts an impressive 50%. An esper that goes this far is forsaking half of what makes them mortal, thus putting lesser spirits at 75% spirit/25% mortal. Note that the mortal slice is USUALLY mental in nature. Very few lesser spirits still have a body that ages and can die. Greater spirits, like Ifrit, Odin, and Bahamut, vary from 0 to 10% mortal and the rest being pure spirit.

Description: Lesser spirits are spirits that are young, or simply too attached to the mortal realms. Often they are easier to bond with and are more friendly, due to their affinity with mortal thinking. Carbuncle, Chococobo, Mog, and others are examples of lesser spirits.

Advantages:

Immortal: Being spirit, they cannot be truly slain. Easily anyway. A lesser spirit that dies in the mortal realm vanishes back to its spiritual domain, where it can recover and return at a later date. Only being slain within its domain permanently banishes a spirit.

Atwa: Master of their particular domain, lesser spirits enjoy influence over that domain on a nigh global level. Local changes are much easier(Costing 0->20 mp, level adjusted) to manage than shifting weather patterns or causing a plauge(50->100, level adjusted), and the amount of time required also varied. This is staff discretion territory. A lesser spirit that interferes too hard or often may find a greater spirit arriving to teach them a lesson in discretion in a most un-discrete fashion.

Flaws:

Inhuman: Though quite personable compared to Odin, lesser spirits are still removed from mortality. The need to eat, breath, and sleep are distanced from them, and day to day concerns fade from their mind. It becomes hard to relate to the living. +3 difficulty to any social action of any kind.

Spirit: All spirit magics affect lesser spirits.

Summonable: Besides the positive side of pacting with people, you can also be forcably pacted by being challenged to it, which you cannot turn down. If defeated at the challenge of your choosing, then you are considered pacted, like it or not.

Rarity: Common(NPC wise anyway)
