SC: HoE - ToE Tech&Magic Conflict

In the winter of 1015 AH, gaia awoke fully. Though now entirely awake, gaia remains of simple thought due to the sheer size of her thinking surface(Being an entire planet). She decided she could keep her most troublesome children(human civilization) in line by withdrawing their ability to create technological innovation. Since magic was her will, she created an antipathy between magic and technology.
When magic met technology, it would seek to undermine and destroy it, but it could no longer exist with it, causing the progress of technology to force magic away in a strange like-pole magnetic repulsion.
People, being free willed, find themselves aligning with either force. Some folk tend towards magic, finding it easier to shape, while finding technology fallable and worrisome to use. Others are at home with a wrench, and find magic to be unreliable at best.
