The Wheel
From SCross
The Wheel, or more fully, The Wheel of Rebirth, is a massive structure that most spirits of the realm are drawn to. Sitting upon its bony structure, they placidly are spun until they fade away, their next life decided for them. It is said that if one concentrates intently on the life they desire, it can influence the wheel's decision, but this is not proven. Ultimately, the wheel makes its own choice, in part based on how the person lived their last lives, and in part based on Gaia's needs. The presence of this spirit makes one wonder why the realm is so opposed to the presence of Phoenix, with purposes seemingly coinciding with one another.
Image
A ferris wheel that has long since fell onto its side, but perfectly capable of spinning still. Spirits enter from its sides to rest in its nooks and crannies, or clamber on top to watch the world of the Abyss slowly spin past. Spirits vanish when their next life is decided, but this is not a set amount of time, so families that die together are sometimes separated during the re-birthing process. Those living who visit the wheel may speak with those waiting rebirth freely, but contact with the wheel, being inside or on top of it, causes a slow draining of energy, losing a health level per hour until the person's body fades, revealing a spirit that usually rebirths shortly after.
Anyone who has climbed aboard the wheel is like a ghost, untouchable by the living who may try to draw them off. Only their will power or the intervention of Hades can save them from rebirth.
Spell
For 20 MP, if a target is slain or dies within the hour, the summoner may decide where and as what they will be reborn as. This can be used on the summoner themselves. If the effect triggers, the summoner gains 3 points of lower-MP. The age of the reincarnation can be anywhere in the natural life span of the new body, though minimum PC ages remain in effect, for PCs, and may force retirement.
Spirit Channeler Effect
Focused by a channeler, the summoner becomes a focus for the wheel of rebirth. The last life of each creature they set their eyes on becomes clear with a bit of concentration. The summoner can also find a person's current incarnation by holding an object most prized to them during their last life, or by visiting their grave or body.
Prerequisites:
- Black-Summon of 20
- Anyone seeking a Pact with the Wheel must pass a +Resist/Willpower roll with at least 4 successes or find themselves drawn onto the wheel. If they fail this test and climb aboard the Wheel the spirit judges them unworthy of a pact with themselves.
If they cannot resist the lure of the Wheel, they cannot be considered responsible enough to call upon it's power.
